The Guide for Cabinet Hardware
Hardware can be tricky thing! Where to begin?! There are so many choices out there, it can feel overwhelming. And, when you are done picking out the hardware that you like, its not over. You need to figure out where they should be placed, which can make a big difference. But, have no fear, I'm here to help and guide you to picking out the perfect hardware for your kitchen.

TIP 1 Starting off, I like to select what finish I'm going to work with. This helps me narrow down my selections, and can keep me on track while sourcing. My go to's are brushed brass, matte black and brushed nickel, but there are so many others out there! What I like about a matte and brushed finished is you don't see the fingerprints. It can be very unpleasing to the eye to see fingerprints all over your brand new hardware!

TIP 2 The next step is to think about what kind of hardware you want. Are you looking for pulls, knobs, or a combination of both? There's no right or wrong answer here, its really just a personal preference. Knobs are a bit more traditional and pulls are more modern (typically). I will say that when picking out pulls, try to pick out ones that are a typical size. Just in case down the road you want to switch them out, you don't have to fill them in, repaint and drill new holes into them.
PRO TIP
The way to measure is to do from the center of each hole on the pull. In that case, knobs make it a whole lot easier to switch in and out, if you are anything like me and love to change things up every once in awhile.

The final decision to make is how you want them hung. Do you want them on the line of the frame, or offset from the corner? Different ways they are hung elude to different styles. With pulls, there are a couple different ways you can arrange them when using them for drawers. You could do two smaller ones on either side, or a longer one in the middle. These little details will make a big difference in the overall feel of the space.

TIP 4
I like to double up on hardware when drawers are 24" or wider. That could be dividing the drawer into thirds and putting them on the left and right portions. The other way would be to use a pull that is twice the size as the cabinet ones.
TIP 5
Mix and match! Hardware doesn't have to be the same finish and style as every other finish in the kitchen. Just because you have brass faucets doesn't mean you can't do matte black. I love mixing metal together to give it more of a curated feel.

Who said you even needed hardware? Maybe you want to go for a modern minimalist feel. Hidden pulls are another great design feature to think about!
