FIVE *CLEAN* BEACH MUST HAVES

At Lawless, our design mission is deeply rooted in sustainability but it's also how we make personal choices like what we put into our bodies, what we wear, what we support and what we use at the beach isn't any different. Below is some of the clean, environment friendly stuff we're loving for this summer's beach trips.

Straw Beach (& beyond) Bags

A majority of straw bags in the market now are made from plastic that is non-biodegradable and remains in our ecosystem for hundreds of years. Environmentally friendly straw bags are made from natural fibers that also celebrate ancestral crafts and empower artisans across the world.

Reusable Silicone Bags

Snacks are a major part of any good beach trip, specially if like me, you're there from sun up to sun down. Fruits, cheese and crackers, granola etc. but it's important to remember that up to 13 million metric tons of plastic ends up in the ocean each year—the equivalent of a rubbish or garbage truck load's worth every minute. Fish, seabirds, sea turtles, and marine mammals can become entangled in or ingest plastic debris, causing suffocation, starvation, and drowning. Reusable silicone bags are the answer. It's a one-time purchase that has several uses and decreases harm to our oceans.

Vegan, Cruelty Free Sunscreen

Applying sunscreen daily is a must but specially at the beach. Sure the sun does wonders for our mental health and mood but unprotected exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and immune system. It can also cause cancer. We recommend a vegan, cruelty free sunscreen that's made with hyaluronic acid and other clean ingredients.

Squalene + Rose Vegan Lip Balm

Continuing on with skin; cracked, dry , burned lips are my worse nightmare. I purposely leave a spare lip balm in different places; car, bedroom, purse, work desk. Lately I've been loving Biossance's squalene and rose vegan lip balm. it's thick but not pasty and hydrates immediately. It's a fragrance-free balm packaged in a hygienic tube with packaging made from 100% renewable sugarcane. It's made with clinically proven moisturizers plus luxurious rose wax and plumping wakame algae for healthy, soft lips.

Hair Sunscreen

Once upon a time I had brittle, dry, damaged, over processed hair. I am far from that now but it took close to a year, clean vegan product and a lot of discipline to revive the mess. Needless to say, I'm now obsessed with treating my hair well. I'm a big fan of Monat's Color Locking + Protective Spray. It's not just for those who color their hair but for anyone who wants additional protection. I use it daily but also take it to the beach so I reapply (and comb) between dips. It's made with Rejuvenique, Procataline and Fiber Rescue.

I wouldn't lead you astray, all of this stuff is gold and a lot better for the environment (and your body) then most of the junk on shelves. If you try any of it, let me know how you like it in the comments!
